Our Story
Ricky’s isn’t just a deli and ice cream shop — it’s a story built over generations, rooted right here in our small-town community.
It all started in 1969, when James and Evelyn — Rick’s grandparents — purchased and opened Boggs Grocery. Like many small businesses, it faced its challenges, including a fire in December of 1970. But with determination and grit, they rebuilt and reopened in 1971, continuing to serve the community until 1982.
From there, the legacy stayed in the family. Rita and Tony Lyons — Rick’s aunt and uncle — took over and carried the business forward until 1992, keeping that same small-town spirit alive.
Years later, the passion for serving the community carried on through the next generation. Rick’s mom and stepdad, Janet and Bill, opened the Higbee Depot Deli, serving customers from 2011 to 2014, with another short run in 2020.
Today, Ricky’s Deli & Ice Cream continues that tradition.
Rick is a third-generation store owner and operator, bringing decades of family history, hard work, and pride into everything we do. Alongside Amy, this next chapter began in 2026 — and we’re just getting started.

Because around here, it’s more than just food — it’s family, tradition, and community.
